Slow Cooker French Toast with Apples and Pecans

Are you ready for Thanksgiving? Are you ready for the kid’s to be home all week? Well whether you’re ready or not, we’re all just days away from having a house full of people. If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you know that I’m a wife and mother of 4. We’ll all be home this holiday season. We’ll also have some of my daughter’s friends from college here along with my other family and friends. 

Here’s a great recipe for Slow Cooker French Toast with Apples and Pecans that will leave your stovetop empty. And even better, you’ll have breakfast ready and available when the kids and guests wake up.

Feeds 8-10 people

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cooking Time: 4-5 hours

Grocery List:

1 Loaf of French Bread or Challah Bread

2 apples, preferably Granny Smith

6 eggs

1 bag of chopped pecans

2 cups of whole milk

1/2 stick of unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 teaspoons of cinnamon

1 cup of brown sugar

2 cups of sugar

In a large bowl, whip the 6 eggs with 1 cup of sugar, vanilla, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 2 cups of milk

Slow Cooker French Toast

Cut the bread into cubes. They should be the size of croutons. Pour the liquid over the bread and allow it to soak for up to 20 minutes.

Put the soaked bread in the greased slow cooker.

Peel and dice all of the apples. Cut the apples into very small pieces and saute with light brown sugar and a teaspoon of cinnamon.

Pour all of the apple mixture over the top of bread in the slow cooker. Mix butter and remaining sugar. Dollop on top. Sprinkle chopped pecans.

Cook for 4 – 5 hours on low.

Serve with your favorite honey or syrup. Or you can be adventurous LOL and serve with whip cream.
